Germany’s Ambassador Slams Kosovo’s 19th Failed Attempt to Constitute Assembly: “A World Record of Failure”German Ambassador to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, has strongly criticized the persistent political deadlock in the country following the 19th failed attempt to elect the Speaker of the Assembly.

Speaking to Klan Kosova, Rohde did not mince words:

“The election of the Speaker of Parliament is a crucial act in a democracy. We wanted to see it succeed. Unfortunately, it didn’t work—this is now the 19th round. This is not good for the country, nor for Kosovo’s international image. To me, it seems like a world record of failure.”

Kosovo’s Parliament has been unable to move forward since the early parliamentary elections in February. Despite the certification of results and the holding of the first session on April 15, political parties have yet to reach an agreement on electing a Speaker—a necessary step before forming the new government and functioning legislature.

The next parliamentary session is scheduled for Friday at 11:00.
