Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla, stated that impunity fuels destabilization and that without accountability there can be no lasting peace. She made these remarks while participating in the meeting of the Group of Friends for Accountability for the Aggression against Ukraine.
Gërvalla emphasized the need for justice and concrete actions from the international community against Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, linking this stance to Kosovo’s own experience.
“I condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and stressed that impunity fuels destabilization, as demonstrated by the September 24, 2023, attack in Banjska. With Ukraine, we share the pain for the lives lost and respect for the steadfast resilience of the Ukrainian people. Our support for Ukraine remains concrete and transparent.”
She added that Kosovo knows well the price of freedom and the importance of support from international partners:
“In Kosovo, we know very well the price of freedom and the value of the actions of the international community and our allies. And when aggression goes unpunished, it risks being repeated. Therefore, we call for full accountability for the ongoing crimes in Ukraine and the protection of the rules that guarantee everyone’s security.”
Concluding her remarks, Gërvalla reaffirmed Kosovo’s unwavering commitment to Ukraine:
“Kosovo will stand by Ukraine with clear and uncompromising actions, until the aggression stops and justice is delivered. Glory to Ukraine and its freedom.”
