Donika Gërvalla emphasized that judicial institutions remain central to Kosovo’s reform agenda during a meeting with Stephen O’Malley, the Development Coordinator of the United Nations Office in Kosovo, along with directors of UN agencies operating in the country.
According to Gërvalla, strengthening the integrity, independence, and professionalism of judicial institutions is a key priority. She highlighted the importance of mechanisms aimed at combating corruption and organized crime, including the operationalization of the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets.
The minister also underlined that the digitalization of judicial services has marked an important step toward increasing transparency within the system.
In addition, discussions addressed the prevention and handling of domestic and gender-based violence, stressing the need for effective protection measures and stronger coordination among responsible institutions.
Gërvalla further noted that the standardization and harmonization of legislation remain critical, emphasizing the importance of a clear and coordinated legal framework.
