Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, represented Kosovo at the second ministerial meeting of the Ukraine – Southeast Europe format, held as part of the Dubrovnik Forum.
According to a press release from Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participating ministers reaffirmed their “unwavering support” for Ukraine, underscoring their commitment to a “just and lasting peace.”
The communiqué from the participating ministers, cited by Kosovo’s Foreign Ministry, stated: “The complete withdrawal of Russian forces and equipment from the entire territory of Ukraine, the cessation of hostilities, and the full restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders remain essential for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace.”
Meanwhile, Serbia, a candidate country for European Union membership, has yet to impose sanctions on Russia following the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Serbian authorities maintain this stance is due to “traditional friendship,” Russia’s support for not recognizing Kosovo’s independence, and reliance on Russian gas.
