Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, has traveled to New York to participate in the UN Security Council session scheduled for October 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM local time (4:00 PM Kosovo time).

The session will review the periodic report of UN Secretary-General António Guterres on developments in Kosovo.

“Minister Gërvalla will report on the work of Kosovo’s institutions, including achievements, challenges, and priorities for comprehensive reforms, particularly in rule of law, economic performance, and institutional strengthening,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora stated.

Focus of the Session

The Security Council session marks the second regular meeting of 2025 on the situation in Kosovo. UNMIK Deputy Special Representative and Head of Mission, Milbert Dongjon Shin, is expected to present the latest report from the Secretary-General, distributed to Council members on October 10, covering developments from March 16 to September 15.

Shin is expected to highlight key political and security developments in Kosovo during the reporting period. He will also address the implementation of EU-facilitated agreements, including the February 2023 normalization agreement (also known as the Ohrid Agreement), noting that tensions between Kosovo and Serbia continue.
