In her address to the United Nations Security Council, Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Donika Gërvalla stated that Serbia has demonstrated it is ready for war and that Vučić’s regime can only be stopped through prevention, not persuasion.
She recalled that in September 2023 Serbia carried out a military‑level attack against Kosovo, sending trained paramilitaries from its bases, equipped with sophisticated weaponry, with the aim of forcibly seizing the northern territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
“The commander of that attack was Vučić’s right hand for Kosovo, who today is treated as an ‘honoured guest’ in Belgrade. That is impunity for aggression and for killings,” Minister Gërvalla said.
She also mentioned the arrest of former police officer Arbnor Spahiu by Serbian authorities, calling it an act of revenge against those who defended the Republic of Kosovo from the Banjska attack; Spahiu was abroad at the time of the assault.
“If there are no consequences for such actions, Serbia will further escalate aggression. Because this regime is not afraid of words, but only of action,” the minister emphasized, calling for the release of former officer Arbnor Spahiu.
