Gjilan Police Visit Families of Fallen Officers on Memorial Day

The Regional Police Directorate in Gjilan has organized a series of commemorative activities for the Memorial Day for Fallen Police Officers. These included visits to the families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Honoring the Sacrifice of Officers

According to an official police announcement, these activities were held to express deep gratitude and unconditional honor for the sacrifice of police officers who gave their lives in defense of law, order, and the safety of citizens.

“During the visits, the family of officer Lazim Rexhepi was also honored, as he was the first police officer to fall in the line of duty in the Republic of Kosovo. Flowers were laid at his memorial plaque as a sign of respect and eternal remembrance for his irreplaceable work and contribution,” the statement read.

The police affirmed their commitment to supporting the families of fallen officers, stating, “The Kosovo Police always stands by the families of fallen officers, highly valuing and respecting all those who gave their lives for the preservation of order and security in society.”

The visits were conducted by the Regional Deputy Director of Police in Gjilan, Lieutenant Colonel Remzi Azemi, along with the directorate’s leadership, commanders of the police stations in Gjilan and Kamenica, and the mayor of Kamenica.
