Ardian Gjini, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) candidate for mayor of Gjakova, commented on the formation of the new government and the possibility of inter-party coalitions during his appearance tonight on “Politiko.”
Gjini stated that it is now almost certain there will be no new government formed in the immediate future and that it seems unlikely one will be established by Sunday.
“It doesn’t look like we’ll have a government. If we don’t, there are many possible scenarios that could unfold. However, what seems almost certain to me is that elections will take place no later than early spring — likely around March,” Gjini said.
He emphasized that new elections will take place very soon, since it will be impossible to secure 80 willing MPs needed to elect a new president before then.
“I would even say elections could happen earlier than March, because it’s inevitable. I don’t see any political configuration capable of forming a stable government — one that has enough votes to elect the President of Kosovo. I simply don’t see 80 MPs willing to do so, not even by March. So, elections are coming soon,” he concluded.
