Albanian police have dismantled a drug distribution network in Gjirokastër, arresting 10 individuals involved in selling cocaine and cannabis across various neighborhoods. Three additional suspects are being processed administratively.
According to A2 CNN, those arrested include Mihal Llavdaniti, Klajdi Rondo, Dorian Alikaj, Meteo Rondo, Alsid Cani, Armand Majko, Arben Puleri, Mikel Novi, Dëfrim Rondo, and Xhuljano Guma, all facing charges for production and sale of narcotics.
The operation, codenamed “Andromeda”, was conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Section in collaboration with the Operational Sector, Special Force “Shqiponja”, and local police departments under DVP Gjirokastër. Arrests were made in flagrante, with some suspects apprehended following warrants issued by the Gjirokastër Prosecutor’s Office.
During raids on several homes, authorities seized:
- 1.082 kg of cocaine
- Cannabis packaged for sale
- Firearms: 1 hunting rifle, 1 sport pistol, 1 knife
- Ammunition and 1 metal detector
- 2 sets of vehicle plates
- 3,970 packs of cigarettes (without fiscal stamps)
- €4,850 in cash and 17 mobile phones
Police also reported seizures tied to specific suspects:
- Alsid Cani: firearms and ammunition possessed without permits
- Armand Majko: cannabis and 3,970 packs of unlicensed cigarettes
- Dorian Alikaj: 1.05 kg of cocaine
The remaining suspects were found with smaller quantities of drugs, cash, or equipment linked to drug sales.
Additionally, three individuals are being processed in a free state procedure for possession of small amounts of cocaine or failure to report drug-related activities.
