A large-scale joint security exercise, “Golden Sabre 2026,” will take place on July 2–3, 2026, at Camp Vrella, bringing together personnel from NATO Kosovo Force, European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo, the Kosovo Police, and Kosovo’s Emergency Management Agency (AME).

The Kosovo Security Force (KSF) will also participate in the exercise in accordance with its original civil protection mandate.

According to the announcement, the exercise will involve the deployment of a significant number of personnel, vehicles, and specialized equipment within the exercise area and surrounding roads.

The primary objective is to test crisis management capabilities and operational procedures under complex security scenarios, including the safe handling and disposal of explosive devices and hazardous materials.

KFOR Commander, Major General Ozkan Ulutaş, said the exercise reflects the continued commitment to strengthening cooperation and coordination among security institutions for the benefit of all people in Kosovo.

KFOR also reiterated that it continues to carry out its mandate under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, contributing to a safe and secure environment and ensuring freedom of movement for all communities in Kosovo, while working closely with the Kosovo Police and EULEX in accordance with their respective roles.
