Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, announced that the government has approved the decision to lift the visa requirements for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In a post on Facebook, Kurti informed that, starting from January 1, 2025, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to travel to Kosovo with just a biometric ID card.
“We remain hopeful that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to ratify the agreement as soon as possible, so the entire region can enjoy the freedom of movement,” Kurti wrote, among other things.
Full Announcement:
Last night, the government approved the previously announced decision allowing citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, starting January 1 of next year, to travel to our Republic with a biometric ID card.
In November, it marked two years since the signing of the Agreement on Free Movement with ID Cards in the Western Balkans in Berlin, as part of the Berlin Process agreements. Our country was the first to ratify this agreement in parliament.
The blockade from the Republic of Srpska entity has long deprived the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the citizens of Kosovo, of the right to free movement with ID cards, at a time when the entire region is freely traveling toward the European Union. As we put an end to the wait for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we remain hopeful that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to ratify the agreement as soon as possible, so that the entire region can enjoy the freedom of movement. We believe that this decision will strengthen the ties between Kosovo and Bosnia, increase opportunities for cooperation, and foster exchanges in education, culture, sports, economy, and other areas of mutual interest.
