The Spokesperson of the Government of Kosovo, Përparim Kryeziu, has responded to media reports claiming that Prime Minister Albin Kurti was interviewed by the Kosovo Police in connection to the case involving Faton Klinaku of the Organization of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL-UÇK).

In his public statement, Kryeziu denied that Kurti went to the police station, clarifying instead that the Prime Minister provided his statement to police officers from his office.

Prime Minister Kurti gave his statement to police officials in his office, not at the police station, as some headlines misleadingly suggest,” Kryeziu wrote.

Faton Klinaku, former acting chairman of OVL-UÇK, is one of two individuals indicted for issuing threats against Prime Minister Kurti. The indictment was filed on August 1, 2025.

According to the Special Prosecution of Kosovo, Klinaku allegedly threatened Kurti on August 29, 2023, via a Facebook post containing threatening language. The next day, August 30, 2023, Klinaku reportedly repeated the threat, stating:

Once again I repeat — if the previous post seemed scandalous: I would rather kill Albin Kurti than clear the path and leave Kosovo.”

In addition, Prime Minister Kurti has refused to appear before the Special Prosecution in a separate case regarding state reserves, where he was summoned to testify. Kurti maintained that prosecutors must come to the Prime Minister’s Office to conduct the interview.
