Granit Xhaka has achieved another major individual success.
On Sunday evening, Xhaka was named MVP of the year 2024 in Switzerland. In the race for the most valuable athlete award, Xhaka faced strong competition.
He narrowly beat Lara Heini from floorball and Kevin Fiala from ice hockey.
The midfielder led Bayer Leverkusen to the Bundesliga title and the German Cup. He excelled with Switzerland at Euro 2024, and with Leverkusen, he also reached the final of the UEFA Europa League.
“I want to thank everyone: my team, the staff, the coaches. To be honest, I’m not a big fan of individual awards. As I always say, success is not possible alone. You need the team, the staff, and the coaches. Last year was unforgettable. For me, for the club, and for the whole city. The European Championship was also extraordinary. Can 2025 be even better? I hope so. I will be a father again in March,” Xhaka said.
At the “Sports Awards” ceremony, many other awards were also given.
The MVP award is one of the main prizes.
