Bayer Leverkusen has officially confirmed that Sunderland has accepted the terms for the transfer of Granit Xhaka, paving the way for the Swiss international’s move to the English club.
“Granit Xhaka was a key player in the Leverkusen team that won the German Championship and Cup in 2024,” said Simon Rolfes, Leverkusen’s sporting director.
“Fulfilling his urgent request for a transfer was the right decision for Bayer 04 under the negotiated conditions. It is the best solution for everyone involved. We wish Granit all the best for the next chapter of his career.”
On social media, Leverkusen expressed gratitude for Xhaka’s contributions and wished him success at Sunderland.
