A tragic incident occurred in Xanthi on Tuesday evening, June 16, when a 68-year-old former local government official from the Municipality of Topeiros was fatally shot.
According to Greek media, the man was found in a courtyard with a shotgun wound to his armpit. Emergency services were immediately notified and transported him to the General Hospital. Despite the intensive efforts of doctors in the hospital’s Emergency Department, he succumbed to his injuries.
Police were promptly alerted to the incident, and investigations are currently underway, with all possibilities remaining open. Authorities are gathering evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
