A series of earthquakes struck Greece again today, causing panic among citizens and raising concerns about potentially stronger aftershocks.

After the earthquake on the tourist island of Santorini, which registered a magnitude of 3.2 on the Richter scale in the early morning hours, a chain of tectonic tremors was later reported near the Kyllini area, just after midday.

Experts stated that the tremor measured 3.5 on the Richter scale, considered moderately light, but the continuity and duration of the shakes caused concern.

Small to moderate earthquakes have been recorded in the Kyllini region since early January, prompting increased scientific monitoring, though there is no cause for alarm regarding a major quake.

Since January 6, 2026, the region has experienced a series of earthquakes, the largest reaching 3.5 on the Richter scale, according to seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos in a social media post, as reported by Protothema.

There are no reports of material damage or injuries.
