Richard Grenell, formerly the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Serbia and Kosovo negotiations under the Trump administration, has publicly contested recent statements made by Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani. President Osmani had asserted that she could confirm President Donald Trump’s recent intervention prevented a Serbian attack on Kosovo.

In a post on X, Grenell stated, “Shame on you, Vjosa Osmani, for manipulating President Donald Trump’s words.” He shared excerpts of President Osmani’s remarks from the U.S. regarding Trump’s role in Western Balkan peace efforts.

Grenell elaborated by highlighting President Donald Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on “peace and economic normalization between Kosovo and Serbia in 2019 and 2020,” specifically referencing the Washington Agreement signed at the White House. He added, “Osmani was not part of that agreement. And to pretend there was something new is absurd.”

President Osmani, currently visiting the U.S., had referenced remarks by President Donald Trump suggesting an intervention occurred “in recent weeks” to prevent a Serbian attack, emphasizing these were “very recent developments” rather than past events. She also commended the 2020 agreement signed at the White House during Trump’s initial presidential term.
