Richard Grenell, former U.S. Special Presidential Envoy under Donald Trump, has called on former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi to take legal action against officials at The Hague.
In a social media post, Grenell criticized Europe for failing to respond to Thaçi’s detention, stating that the former president has been held for over five years without trial.
“Europe is failing. One example is the large number of European politicians who remain silent while The Hague detains a Head of State for five years without trial, and then the trial takes even more years,” Grenell wrote.
He described the system as “brutal and archaic, run by elites,” and said it does not represent true justice. Grenell suggested that Thaçi should sue The Hague officials in an American court, noting that U.S. taxpayers’ money is involved.
“I hope that Hashim Thaçi sues everyone at The Hague in a U.S. court once he is free – after all, these are American taxpayers’ funds,” he added.
