Former President of the Constitutional Court, Gresa Caka, has issued a response after a private conversation between journalist Berat Buzhala and politician Petrit Selimi was recently published. In this conversation, they discussed the formation of a new government of the Republic of Kosovo, and Caka’s name was mentioned as a potential candidate for future Prime Minister.

Through a statement on her Facebook page, Caka said that she had not previously commented on this matter because she believes this manner of communication does not deserve a response.

She further addressed the conversation where her name was mentioned for a position in a possible new government, stating that it led to a campaign against her.

“I have never responded to attacks, defamation, and lynching, which unfortunately characterize our public discourse. I appreciate that such an unworthy level and manner of communication does not deserve to be legitimized with a response.

However, considering that a conversation in which my name was mentioned, without my knowledge and thus without my consent, was enough to start an aggressive campaign of disinformation based on politically motivated causes, including against the institutions of the Republic, I consider that a brief and clear clarification is necessary,” Caka wrote.

The former President of the Constitutional Court made it clear that she has not discussed with any person or political party about any public or political position, and that she has no interest in such matters.

“I have not discussed with any person or political party regarding any public or political position, nor do I have any interest in such discussions. I will always remain proud of the extraordinary contribution I made to an institution in defending constitutional order and democratic values in the Republic of Kosovo. As I have always declared, within the scope of my profession, I will continue to work with dedication to strengthen the rule of law in the Republic of Kosovo, while also protecting the integrity of the role I held in the Constitutional Court,” she said.

In conclusion, Caka warned:

“All other matters will be addressed through legal mechanisms.”
