Perparim Gruda, a deputy of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), has placed the blame for the ongoing blockage of Kosovo’s Parliament squarely on Vetëvendosje. He criticized the party’s insistence on Albulena Haxhiu as the sole candidate for Speaker of the Assembly, calling it unacceptable and undemocratic.

The parliament is blocked because of one name, Albulena Haxhiu. This is an extremely difficult situation for everyone, but we cannot allow a dictate on our votes,” Gruda said, underscoring the importance of a free vote and rejecting any form of political pressure.

He also emphasized that the PDK is willing to contribute to unblocking the process, but not at the cost of unilateral impositions. Gruda’s statement reflects a growing political divide over the parliamentary stalemate, highlighting the importance of consensus in government formation.

Key Developments:
Gruda noted that tomorrow’s 16th attempt to elect a new Speaker would coincide with a meeting between President Vjosa Osmani and party leaders. He expressed his party’s commitment to working toward resolving the political crisis and supporting any initiative aimed at breaking the deadlock.
