On February 17, marking the 18th anniversary of Kosovo’s declaration of independence, a nationwide protest is set to be held at Skanderbeg Square in Pristina in support of former KLA leaders currently on trial in The Hague.
Speaking to Euronews Albania, Hysni Gucati, head of the KLA War Veterans’ Organization (OVL-UÇK), said he expects high-level participation from leaders in both Kosovo and Albania.
“Until now, it is not official, but based on the information we have, we expect the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, along with President Vjosa Osmani, to join the protest in Pristina,” Gucati stated.
He also mentioned that Taulant Balla is expected to attend, along with numerous members of parliament from various political parties in Albania. Additionally, organized groups of students from Albanian universities are anticipated to participate.
The protest aims to demonstrate public solidarity with the former KLA leaders facing trial at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
