The Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Prishtina, Zejnullah Gashi, has provided new details regarding today’s shooting incident in the village of Komoran, Drenas. He clarified that the case is not related to the ongoing election process, Reporteri.net reports.

Gashi stated that three individuals were involved and that the altercation stems from a dispute that occurred three weeks ago.

“We are in Komoran following information about a dispute between one person and two others, which has nothing to do with the election process. The reasons behind the conflict are not fully known yet, but according to available information, it’s linked to a disagreement from three weeks ago. The same individuals are suspected of robbery and other criminal offenses, unrelated to the elections,” said Gashi.

He confirmed that the suspects are known to the police, but none have been arrested so far.

“This case in no way undermines the integrity of the electoral process,” Gashi added.

He further explained that there had been gunfire, but the exact circumstances are still being verified.

“It’s confirmed that shots were fired, though we cannot yet confirm whether they were directed at anyone. There are no detained individuals at this stage. All three involved have prior criminal records. No one was injured, but property damage occurred — the suspects initially attacked a vehicle with metal objects, damaging it, and one of them later fired a gun. We are currently collecting surveillance footage and will provide more details soon,” Gashi said.

He also clarified that the two people taken in by police are witnesses, not suspects.

“The suspects are still at large. We know who they are, and they are already known to both the police and the prosecution,” Gashi concluded.
