The exiled Hamas leader and chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya said on Thursday that the group has received guarantees from the United States, Arab mediators, and Turkey that the war in Gaza has permanently ended.

In a speech to the Palestinian public, al-Hayya stated that the agreement between Israel and Hamas will lead to a lasting ceasefire, the entry of humanitarian aid, and the reopening of Gaza’s border crossing with Egypt, according to The Guardian.

He added that the deal includes the release of 250 Palestinians serving life sentences in Israeli prisons and 1,700 Gaza residents detained by Israel since the war began.

Al-Hayya said the mediators and the United States have provided assurances that the deal signifies that “the war has completely ended.”

Meanwhile, the Israeli government is expected to hold a meeting at 10:00 p.m. local time to vote on a resolution outlining the terms of the ceasefire and the release of hostages.

Once approved, Israeli airstrikes on Gaza will cease within 24 hours, and Hamas will have three days to release the hostages. Israeli forces will partially withdraw from Gaza along the agreed demarcation line.
