Israeli airstrikes in northern Gaza have killed Abdel-Latif Al-Qanoua, a spokesperson for Hamas, according to Hamas-affiliated media.
Rising Tensions in Gaza
- Targeted Strike: Al-Qanoua was killed when an Israeli airstrike hit his tent in Jabalia, wounding several others.
- Other Fatalities: Separate strikes also killed at least six people in Gaza City and one in Khan Younis, per medical sources.
- Hamas Leadership Losses: This follows the recent Israeli assassinations of senior Hamas leaders Ismail Barhoum and Salah al-Bardaweel.
Ceasefire Collapse & Ongoing Conflict
Since Israel resumed major military operations on March 18, over 830 people have been killed, most of them women and children, according to Gaza’s health ministry. The ceasefire had largely held since January, but both Israel and Hamas accused each other of breaking it.
Hostage Standoff & Israeli Threats
Hamas still holds 59 hostages, according to Israeli authorities. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned of further territorial seizures in Gaza if Hamas does not release the remaining captives.
