Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the AAK party, announced that he met with Daniel J. Lawton, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State at the U.S. Department of State, in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
“I thanked Mr. Lawton for the unwavering support the United States has given to Kosovo—from our liberation to the building of democracy and state institutions,” Haradinaj wrote following the meeting.
He added that during the discussion, he emphasized that the partnership and friendship between Kosovo and the United States are strategic and long-lasting.
“Kosovo’s membership in NATO will not only strengthen our security but will also contribute to peace, stability, and collective defense throughout the Western Balkans and the Euro-Atlantic community,” Haradinaj stated.
Haradinaj is currently in the U.S., where he previously visited the U.S. Congress, seeking support from President Trump and Congress for Kosovo’s NATO membership. During this visit, he also spoke with Republican Congressman Pete Sessions from Texas on the same topic.
