After the failure of Albulena Haxhiu and Donika Gërvalla to be elected Speaker of the Assembly in the first constitutive session following the Constitutional Court’s ruling, the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, stated that Vetëvendosje (VV) can unblock the process of constituting the Assembly.
According to him, Vetëvendosje already has the necessary votes to elect the Speaker of the Assembly.
He added that, based on AAK’s assessment, around 20 Vetëvendosje deputies could count on the votes of the AAK for the position of Speaker.
“VV has the votes for the Speaker of the Assembly. Because we, who have 5 secured votes, plus possibly some others, would today vote for maybe 20 of VV’s candidates. So, they have the votes. VV does not have the votes for forming a government, because we will not vote for the government—for Kurti III, no. Kurti wants to go to elections, but without going to the scale. He does not want to be seen, given that he does not have the votes to form the government. This is the reality.
In our conviction as the Alliance, there are around 20 people from VV for whom we would cast our votes. So, Kurti has the votes for the Speaker of the Assembly whenever he wants, even tomorrow,” Haradinaj said on Debat Plus.
