The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, spoke today ahead of the Assembly session regarding President Vjosa Osmani’s request to the Constitutional Court concerning the institutional deadlock. This request includes a plea for an interim measure to temporarily suspend the deadline set for the Assembly’s constitution.

President’s Move Provides Crucial Breathing Room

According to Haradinaj, President Osmani’s engagement changes the situation. “There is a possibility of freezing the deadline. We have a few days left to get the new findings for the deadline. Today, I don’t see a change. We are obliged to come because we have a responsibility, but the situation, as you can see, is not good,” Haradinaj stated.

He lauded the President’s initiative as necessary, explaining that the request for an interim measure “saves us a few days of the 30-day deadline” set by the Constitutional Court for the Assembly’s constitution. “It wins us a few days of the 30-day deadline. A few days can be saved for the future whenever the opportunity arises. This is the good part of this.”

Constitutional Court’s Responsibility and AAK’s Stance

Haradinaj expressed hope that the Constitutional Court would not delay its actions, especially concerning the interim measure and the final decision. “I think the Court cannot now avoid what happens after the 30-day period, what if the party that has the right to nominate doesn’t get the votes.” He added, “I am convinced they will find a solution. We haven’t set any conditions, especially for the opposition. We are ready to support the opposition, but we have also given an option for the government.”
