The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, has commemorated the victims of the Poklek Massacre committed by Serbian forces, marking its 26th anniversary.

“On April 17, 1999, in Poklek of Drenica, more than 54 members of the Muqolli and Elshani families were brutally massacred by Serbian forces—most of them women, elderly, and innocent children—whose only ‘fault’ was being Albanian on their own land. On the same day, in Çikatovë, the criminal hand mercilessly executed 24 Albanian civilians.”

Haradinaj emphasized that the absence of justice continues to be a painful wound.

“Even today, 26 years later, the silence of justice remains an open wound. But that silence will never erase the memory of all those whose lives were extinguished by the Serbian state apparatus in an effort to erase our existence as a people. Eternal glory to those who fell for freedom!”
