Jonathan Hargreaves, the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Kosovo, has warned that Kosovo’s role as a transit country for irregular migration poses serious risks to both security and human rights — in Kosovo, the United Kingdom, and across Europe.
He made these remarks during the launch of a new documentary on migrant smuggling networks in Kosovo, produced by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network with support from the British Embassy.
According to Hargreaves, criminal networks exploit vulnerable individuals for financial gain, undermining international efforts to manage migration fairly and humanely.
The ambassador emphasized that the UK and Kosovo are working closely to combat serious and organized crime in the migration sector, aiming to strengthen security, uphold the rule of law, and protect human rights.
