Former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), Hasan Dakaj, has been released from a Serbian prison after being held for nearly a year.

The news was confirmed to Dukagjini by his brother, who stated they were on their way to pick him up.

Dakaj was arrested at the Merdare border crossing in early January 2024. On January 6, 2024, at 16:00, he appeared before the preliminary proceedings judge, where a 30-day detention order was issued.

On January 10, 2024, Dakaj confirmed that the High Prosecutor’s Office for War Crimes in Belgrade accused him of alleged war crimes against the non-Albanian population during the Kosovo War in 1999.
