Nait Hasani, a Kosovo Democratic Party (PDK) deputy and former political prisoner, said that the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (often called the Hague Court) is not prosecuting individuals but the leaders of the war for Kosovo’s freedom describing the process as unjust and dangerous for regional stability.

He emphasized that the court is trying not just people like Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, but the leadership of the war whose sacrifice led to the creation of the Kosovo state. Hasani calls the prosecution a historic injustice fueled by false accusations and intrigues, involving Serbia and some Albanian collaborators.

He criticized the international community’s silence on crimes committed by Serbia, specifically highlighting the Dubrava prison massacre, where 118 Albanian prisoners were killed and hundreds wounded. According to Hasani, these crimes were systematically committed by the Serbian state at all levels from guards and police to government officials.

Hasani stressed that only the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) is being prosecuted for alleged crimes, while Serbian crimes remain unpunished. He warned that convictions at the Specialist Chambers could provoke unrest in Kosovo and the wider region, including among Albanians in Macedonia, Albania, Presevo, Montenegro, and the diaspora.

He concluded firmly: “This is my war, this is our freedom,” refusing to accept the legitimacy of this judicial process.
