Acting Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, during a press conference, demanded that the Prosecutor’s Office immediately begin investigations into judge Radomir Laban and urged the Constitutional Court to initiate procedures for his dismissal, reports Reporteri.net.
Haxhiu stressed that Serbia has never abandoned efforts to destabilize Kosovo and continues to exert influence in neighboring countries, especially Kosovo.
“We call on the Prosecutor’s Office to urgently address cases related to Radomir Laban. If investigations have not started yet, they must issue a decision to commence them; if they have, this should be made public, demonstrating that steps are being taken based on intelligence from security institutions. We also urge the Constitutional Court to start dismissal procedures against him,” said Haxhiu.
She outlined serious allegations against Laban, stating that he is suspected of collaboration with Serbia’s BIA intelligence agency. In 2006, he was reportedly part of the Serbian customs intelligence unit. The circumstances surrounding his release from a Serbian prison remain unclear. He has been listed on Interpol’s wanted list for several years. His appointment and continued tenure as a judge remain controversial, with close ties to the criminal figure Radoičić. Haxhiu further noted that Laban has benefited from real estate and employment of his family members, allegedly through these criminal connections.
Based on this information and additional data from justice institutions, the Prosecutor’s Office, police, and Constitutional Court have been notified. Given his illegal involvement in Kosovo’s electoral process, criminal past, financial means, and property holdings, Laban represents a threat to the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo. Despite institutions having this information since 2018, he remains in the Constitutional Court seat.
Haxhiu concluded: “He is an agent of Serbia who has become a judge. So far, no action or dismissal procedures have been initiated against him. After Osmani’s press conference, we expected the Constitutional Court to start the dismissal process, but they continue to take no action.”
