Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, commemorated April 9, 1999, one of the darkest days of the Kosovo War. In a Facebook post, Haxhiu honored those who fell that day, emphasizing the importance of preserving their memory and sacrifice.

“Among them were men and women, as well as young boys and girls, who chose not to retreat in the face of violence but to stand firm. Names such as Luminije Raka, Jehona Raka, Emsale Frangu, and Mukadeze Muhaxheri-Lika remain a testament that the struggle for freedom was never one-sided, but shared, equal, and unconditional. Today, 27 years later, we honor all those who fell on April 9, with the responsibility to preserve their sacrifice in its entirety, just as they stood resilient. Eternal glory to the martyrs and heroes of our nation,” Haxhiu wrote.
