Following the failed meeting of the Assembly Presidency, Albulena Haxhiu, Deputy Chair of Vetëvendosje (VV), stated in a press conference that the absence of the Serb List directly influenced the absence of PDK and LDK representatives.

“We left the meeting because there was no quorum. Two deputy speakers, Vlora Çitaku and Kujtim Shala, were not present. I am convinced that if the Serb List had been here, they would have been present as well. Without the Serb List, however, they were absent,” Haxhiu declared.

She acknowledged that the current situation is far from ideal, noting that it would have been different if Nenad Rašić had secured enough votes to be elected Deputy Speaker.

“The situation we are in is not ideal. The ideal scenario would have been for the Assembly to elect Nenad Rashiq as Deputy Speaker. If the opposition had participated, I believe Rashiq would have been elected as a member of the Presidency. Unfortunately, that did not happen. We couldn’t even secure the additional five votes needed, since he only received 56,” she explained.

Haxhiu emphasized that the work of the Assembly cannot be blocked by the Serb List or political calculations of other parties.

“In these circumstances, the Assembly must continue its mandate. As Speaker Basha also mentioned, the deputy speakers have been elected and we have the majority. Four members are sufficient for meetings to begin and proceed. The Assembly’s work must not stop — it cannot remain hostage to the Serb List or to the calculations of any political party,” she stressed.
