Acting Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, has called Serbia’s accusation that Serbian government official Igor Popoviq admitted guilt “under pressure and not of his own free will” false.
She emphasized that Serbia not only abuses official visits to Kosovo through its officials to incite hatred and division but continues its propaganda even after agreements with the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo regarding the acceptance of guilt, as in the case of Popoviq.
“The Serbian Ministry of Justice has come out with another false accusation claiming that their official Igor Popoviq admitted guilt under pressure. But in the video below, you can see that not only the accused Popoviq but also his lawyer emphasize that the admission of guilt and the agreement were made voluntarily,” she wrote on Facebook.
The Basic Court in Pristina sentenced Popoviq on Friday to six months in prison for incitement of division and intolerance, a sentence that was replaced with a €3,000 fine, and also banned him from entering Kosovo for two years.
