Albulena Haxhiu has called for political will among parties to resolve the ongoing issue of electing Kosovo’s next president.

Haxhiu stated that once consultations between political parties are completed, she will convene the continuation of the parliamentary session for the election of the head of state.

She also indicated that the two presidential candidates proposed by Lëvizja Vetëvendosje could be withdrawn if a consensus candidate is agreed upon among political actors.

“The Constitution is silent on the withdrawal of candidacies and, consequently, the release of supporting signatures,” Haxhiu noted, highlighting a legal ambiguity surrounding the process.

Her remarks come amid ongoing efforts to secure the necessary parliamentary support to elect a new president, a process that requires broad political agreement to succeed.
