The Deputy Chair of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lutfi Haziri, has strongly criticized both the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Vetëvendosje (VV) for the way they are dealing with the ongoing political crisis, which has persisted since the February 9th elections.

Haziri argued that PDK should have acted immediately after the elections, setting clear and optional demands, instead of making delayed public statements only on June 9 and 10.

“What Mr. Hamza and the PDK should have done starting on February 10th in the morning was to define their optional requests and take steps accordingly, not wait until June 9 and 10 to communicate them,” Haziri stated. He added that there have been efforts for cooperation with PDK, describing them as constructive, unlike what he labeled as a “strictly formal cooperation” with Vetëvendosje.

According to Haziri, communication with PDK involved political meetings and dialogue, albeit sporadic, whereas with VV, the interaction has been limited to formal written letters.

“There has been no real political communication with VV. Letters have been the only form of communication. While not inherently bad, when parties are working to solve a crisis, resorting solely to letters shows the level and nature of the cooperation. This type of communication is overly formal,” he explained.

Still, Haziri acknowledged that LDK correctly interpreted Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti’s political message as an intention to form institutions together with LDK.

“Letters express political will, sometimes even with hints of sarcasm, but LDK understood the political will behind them — it’s a signal from VV’s leader for cooperation to build institutions,” Haziri said.

He reiterated LDK’s position, stating that their clear option is the formation of a joint government.

“In such a formula, no one wins or loses — what wins is parliamentary democracy,” Haziri told RTV Dukagjini.

Lastly, Haziri addressed the role of the Serb List, noting that although their MPs have been certified, they have been excluded from the new Assembly structure and are not participating in its functioning.
