Lutfi Haziri of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has stated that without a political agreement on the formation of the government, he does not believe the Speaker of the Assembly can be elected.

“Yesterday’s statement by the acting Prime Minister that Kosovo is facing an institutional vacuum does not hold, because just as in nature, in politics too, there is no vacuum — there is specific weight, and whoever holds it must act. That weight was defined on February 9, and now it must be implemented,” Haziri said.

He emphasized that the election of the Speaker and the government are interdependent processes, and accused Kurti of insisting on separating them.

“The mere fact that we have no political agreement for a government makes it difficult to believe that the nominee from VV for Assembly Speaker can be elected. These are linked processes, even though the acting Prime Minister is working to resolve them separately, which is his own assessment,” Haziri added.
