The Deputy Chair of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lutfi Haziri, stated that the only true representative of the people who carries sovereignty and legitimacy is the MP and the Assembly as an institution.

According to Haziri, anyone who intervenes within their constitutional competencies to support or facilitate the process is acting normally. However, anyone attempting to exert pressure or political blackmail to force the constitution of the legislature is acting outside their constitutional mandate.

He further commented on President Vjosa Osmani’s recent move to send the Assembly deadlock issue to the Constitutional Court, saying she chose “not to keep her hands tied.”

“Now, President Osmani has been seen by some as an authority with tied hands, and by others as a notary of Albin Kurti. She has followed the entire situation before and after the elections from the position of President of the Republic, and sending the issue to the Court is her way of choosing not to continue keeping her hands tied. That is her decision. I don’t believe the Constitutional Court will grant her new constitutional competencies,” said Haziri.

In her request, President Osmani has asked for a temporary measure to pause the 30-day constitutional deadline for constituting the Assembly.

That deadline ends on July 26, with another Assembly session planned by then, where the only item on the agenda will be the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers.
