The Deputy Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lutfi Haziri, has responded to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent statement announcing his potential re-engagement in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Rks News reports.

Haziri stated that Trump’s declaration has surprised not only the region and European partners, but also the government in Pristina, which he believes is unprepared for such a return of American focus to the Balkans.

“It’s surprising for official Pristina, because there has been no clear agenda on how to manage this part, in case the U.S. returns strongly to the process,” Haziri said.

He emphasized that U.S. involvement in the dialogue is crucial for Kosovo, and called on the government to adopt a more proactive approach toward international developments.

According to Haziri, Trump had mentioned Kosovo twice during his presidential campaign, but the lack of institutional readiness in Kosovo signals the need for a clearer strategy moving forward.
