A court session was held today at the Basic Court in Pristina against Bedri Shabani and Muharrem Qerimi, both suspected of espionage.
The hearing was temporarily paused at the request of the judicial panel, which awaited a medical report from the Correctional Service regarding Shabani’s health condition.
At the start of the session, Shabani requested not to make any statements due to his poor health. He asked the court to postpone the hearing on humanitarian grounds, explaining that he was experiencing numbness due to ongoing medical therapy.
Shabani’s lawyer, Besnik Berisha, requested that the hearing continue behind closed doors due to the sensitive nature of Shabani’s medical condition and confidentiality concerns. The court approved the request, and the session continued privately, focusing on Shabani’s health status.
Following the medical discussion, the judge adjourned the session, scheduling the next hearing for November 20.
Shabani and Qerimi are suspected of collecting and transmitting information to the Serbian BIA regarding the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK), Kosovo Police, AKI, and IPK. Based on gathered evidence and testimonies, the Special Prosecution filed charges against them in February of this year.
