Manchester Airport, Liverpool’s “John Lennon” Airport, and Birmingham Airport have closed their runways following heavy snowfall overnight.

Authorities in the UK have announced that efforts are underway to restore operations “as soon as possible,” according to BBC reports.

Temperatures have reportedly dropped to -11°C overnight in Loch Glascarnoch and Scotland, with several parts of the United Kingdom experiencing power outages due to the heavy snowfall.

BBC reports that a severe weather warning has been issued as up to 25 cm of snow may fall in parts of Northern England, according to National Highways.

In addition to air travel disruptions, passengers traveling by train on Sunday may also face delays and cancellations, National Rail has stated.

Speed limits and line closures due to ice and snow are measures that operators may implement to ensure trains continue to run safely.
