Heavy snowfall and rain disrupted traffic during rush hour across large parts of Germany.

Accidents became more frequent on roads in the northeast, according to reports from federal states including Saxony, Brandenburg, and Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania.

Rail operator Deutsche Bahn said delays and cancellations are expected on long-distance services. This applies to all of southern Germany, as well as connections to and from Berlin, Hamburg, and Hanover.

In Berlin, tram services were suspended due to frozen power lines, while public transport services were also restricted in other parts of the capital.

Snow reached southwestern Germany on Sunday evening, with some areas recording up to 25 centimeters of snowfall.
