The long-awaited Llogara Tunnel has officially reopened this Saturday after a 7-month hiatus, drawing large crowds and long vehicle queues eager to pass through.
Citizens and drivers gathered as early as 09:00 to witness the reopening and to cross with ease to the southern coast a journey that, as of today, becomes faster and more convenient.
The 5.9-kilometer-long tunnel will remain free of charge throughout the entire summer tourist season, up until September 15.
This major infrastructure project significantly reduces travel time from Dukat to Palasë previously a 30-minute drive, it now takes only 7 minutes to cover the same route.
The Llogara Tunnel is composed of two parallel structures: the main tunnel and an emergency tunnel, connected by 11 interlinking passages. Vehicles are allowed to travel through at speeds of up to 80 km/h.
This reopening marks a key moment in boosting tourism and easing travel logistics along Albania’s picturesque southern coastline.
