Vladimir Putin, one day after French President Emmanuel Macron referred to Russia as a threat to Europe and suggested placing several European countries under France’s nuclear protection, responded by saying, “Some people have forgotten what happened to Napoleon.”

“There are still people who want to return to the time of Napoleon, forgetting how that story ended,” Putin said, without mentioning Macron by name, as reported by A2.

The Russian president also spoke about the kind of peace that should be established with Ukraine: “We must choose a peace that suits us and will ensure long-term peace for our country.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that “Russia will never give up what is its own.”

“The mistake of our enemies is that they underestimated us. This is where it all began: the underestimation of the character of the Russian people.”
