The Kosovo national football team has achieved a historic milestone by defeating Slovenia 2-0 away, securing a place in the World Cup playoffs for the first time in its history.

The match took place at Stozice Stadium, where the “Dardanët” delivered a strong performance from start to finish.

Fisnik Asllani opened the scoring in the 7th minute, showing exceptional control and finishing with a precise shot into the right corner past goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

In the second half, Petar Stojanovic entered the game as a substitute for Slovenia but was sent off after receiving two yellow cards — first in the 47th minute, then the second just six minutes later.

Ten minutes after the red card, Kosovo doubled their lead thanks to an own goal by Zan Karnicnik, sealing the victory and making history.

Kosovo’s disciplined play and strong unity throughout the qualifiers have now placed them one step closer to potentially reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking a historic achievement for the young nation.
