The associations “Organizata Shqiptaria” and “Artistët për Artistë,” along with the Institute for Spiritual and Cultural Heritage of the Albanians in Skopje, have opened a special exhibition and organized a traditional event in honor of the birthday of the saint, Mother Teresa.
These events took place at “Mother Teresa” Square, with the aim of commemorating and recognizing her contribution to the Albanian people. Veton Gusia, the Chairman of the “Artistët për Artistë” organization, stated that the Albanian people should embody and share their humanity with each other, their family, their nation, and their state.
“The purpose of the exhibition is to remember Mother Teresa’s birthday, a figure who was very significant during the occupation. She represents humanity. We must be aware that this figure, who was of great importance during the occupation, is still important today. We should express our humanity as a people, with love towards each other, our family, our nation, and our state,” said Gusia.
Basri Beka, a representative of the “Organizata Shqiptaria,” added that the legacy of important figures should be preserved for future generations.
“We must preserve the legacy of our saint Mother Teresa. This is important for future generations so that important figures with international dimensions, such as Mother Teresa, are reflected in works of art and their heritage is preserved for future generations,” he noted.
Don Lush Gjergji from the Diocese of Kosovo said that through Mother Teresa’s contributions, the world views the Albanian people differently.
“Mother Teresa is the best, most worthy, and greatest representative in whom God has infused all the goodness of our Illyrian, Albanian tradition, culture, and civilization—‘bread, salt, and heart.’ Gonxhe was our daughter and sister. Through Mother Teresa, the world sees our people in a different light,” he expressed.
Meanwhile, this evening, the Diocese of Prizren-Pristina, in collaboration with the Institute for Spiritual and Cultural Heritage of the Albanians in Skopje, is organizing a Solemn Academy on the occasion of Saint Mother Teresa’s birthday, opening the “Days of Mother Teresa,” which will last until September 5.
