Member of the Presidency of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Avdullah Hoti, stated that the party needs new leadership, while expressing that in the last four years, the current leadership has been engaged in restructuring the party at the branch level, but added that “in many cases, this has been done in a selective manner.”
He said that the electoral result of LDK was neither satisfactory nor close to what was expected “after four years of preparation.”
“Therefore, in order to regain the trust of the membership and the broader electorate, LDK needs new leadership. There is no other way to restore trust in LDK. LDK needs leadership with a team-oriented approach, which is inclusive, with clear political orientations of the center-right, which gathers professionals around itself and brings LDK back to being the center of the best professionals in Kosovo, as it once was. LDK needs leadership that works with full transparency towards the party structures at all levels, that restores the party’s statutory functioning, makes collective decisions based on LDK’s statute (which is the party’s constitution), and in broad consultation with central and local party structures. LDK needs a team-oriented leadership that heals divisions, shows care for all new and old activists, and unites all parts of LDK across the country and in the diaspora,” Hoti wrote on Facebook.
The former member of parliament of the opposition party emphasized that the current leadership, led by Lumir Abdixhiku, should support change within LDK, adding that LDK can regain trust together.
He called on the party to put aside grievances and dissatisfaction and “dedicate ourselves to strengthening LDK for the benefit of Kosovo.”
Hoti also spoke about the votes from the diaspora, stating that the Movement for Self-Determination (VV) was disproportionately voted for compared to the votes in Kosovo. He expressed concern, stating that this phenomenon is unnatural.
