The Houthi rebel group announced on Saturday that Ahmed al-Rahawi, the Prime Minister of the Houthi-controlled government in Sana’a, was killed in an Israeli airstrike.

According to the Houthis, al-Rahawi was killed on Thursday in the Yemeni capital, along with several other ministers.

Israel confirmed that the strike targeted a Houthi regime facility in Sana’a. Al-Rahawi had served as Prime Minister of the Houthi government since August 2024.

The Houthis stated that he was among the targets during a government workshop reviewing the previous year’s performance.

This killing comes after a prolonged period of Houthi attacks on Israel, during which the group has launched rockets in solidarity with Palestinians amid the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
