U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Jeff Hovenier, reiterated that the United States strongly condemns the Friday attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal in the north of Kosovo.
After a meeting with the Quint ambassadors and Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Ambassador Hovenier stated that at this point, the U.S. is not in a position to identify those behind the attack.
He also mentioned that the U.S. is working with Kosovo’s institutions to find those responsible.
“At this point, the United States is not in a position to say who might be behind the attack. It is too early. We have offered our support to the Kosovo authorities in their investigations. We still don’t know who the culprit is,” Hovenier said.
“We think it’s important that those responsible be identified and held accountable. These violent acts are unforgivable and put Kosovo and its citizens at risk,” he added.
